I'm new to all this. My 18 month old was diagnosed with autism a couple of weeks ago. I knew something wasnt right. She wasnt speaking and shes always off in her own world. at first i thought she might be deaf but shes not. I am very unorganized...i have mountains of papers to read...im just overwhelmed right now. Shes already in speech therapy and special instruction and im adding occupational and physical therapy. Anyone have any advice before I lose my mind. My 4 year old son is starting to act up a little because Lauren is getting a lot of the attention. I'm ready to lose my mind.

If you have someone from the family that can come maybe two to three times a week just to help you out for a month or so until everything will settle down, emotionally it is very hard. Please, have faith and say a prayer when you can. Every change takes time to understand and accept. Wishing you all the best. God bless you.

Hello,
This is all new to me as well. We just took my 10 year old daughter to a neurologist and he diagnosed her with autism spectrum disorder, sensory dysfunction, ADHD, and pervasive developemental disorder. I am on the verge of loosing it. Not sure where to turn or where to go to for support. Hopefully we can support each other.

My 20 month old son just got evaluated. Pretty sure it will come back positive for autism or something related. Not talking, also in his own world, has some repetitive movements, doesn't gesture or seem to comprehend a lot. Let me know if you ever need to talk.
