new to the group

Posted in Group:

We are a military family. While my hubby was on his first deployment this past year my 2 year old was diagnosed with autism. It's been overwhelming doing this alone without my husband. It was hard to hear And I was kept getting told that I should know how to deal with it since I work with kids with special needs but I feel that theres a difference and working with them and having to deal with a kid of your own with special needs. I'm just grateful that I found a support group to get ideas and vent lol

Welcome! Of course it is different, it is your child and completely different from being a teacher of other people's children. Use your knowledge, but do not allow the medical profession or anyone else to shortchange you on information pertaining to your son just because they assume you know due to your profession. The one thing I recommend to every parent with an autistic child is to at least look into the Autism Diet, a friend of mine but her son on one and the change was dramatic.

Again welcome!

Have you read any books about indigo and crystal children? If not, I would suggest you do. You can always check the ratings on Amazon.com. Also a couple of days ago, one of my friends shared a very interesting video:

Stay strong and never give up on yourself and your child!
